Making Waves in the Midwest Emo Scene
DETROIT ALT EMO CITY
The stars aligned to bring The Drive Home officially online in July 2025, after years of behind-the-scenes writing and workshopping. You might ask, "what took so long?" Well, a diamond only becomes a diamond due to extreme pressure, and after 10 years of self-generated chaos, songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Sean Zelda finally alchemized that energy into something positive. Rising from the ashes of addiction and recovery, the Universe gifted two best friends ready to join him on the journey: drummer Austin West and bassist/backup vocalist Sean Daly.
Their recipe for success? Start with a unique alternative sound mixed and mastered by Tyler Floyd (Saturdays At Your Place, Free Throw). Toss in the signature emo vocal melodies. Add a pinch of indie rock and slather on some pop punk dressing. And f**k it, just dump in as much DIY grit as you can find. That'll get you something close to Detroit's up-and-coming alt emo power trio making waves in the resurging Midwest emo scene. With fiery vocal hooks, melodic guitars, perfectly placed bass fills, energetic drumming, and a deeply honest and unapologetically gut-wrenching lyrical approach, The Drive Home is crossing generational boundaries as they strike a fresh, yet nostalgic nerve in the hearts of mid-2000s alternative emo music lovers everywhere.
